When Gracie arrived at our Burwood clinic, she was one of the saddest dogs we’d ever seen. She was in so much pain she could barely move, and she was terrified – too scared to even take a treat.
Inspector Jeremy responded to an animal cruelty report, where he found poor Gracie. He knew instantly she needed urgent help, and he could see from her painful skin that she was suffering.
He gathered Gracie up in his arms, gently carried her to his truck and thought “this is probably the first time you’ve ever had a hug”.
RSPCA Inspectors respond to reports of animal neglect and cruelty every single day, and it is our Rescue Team who help keep them on the road rescuing animals like Gracie.
After receiving much needed treatment from our clinic team, Gracie needed time to heal from her painful wounds. That’s when she met Julia, a volunteer foster carer. They bonded instantly and it didn’t take long for Julia to realise Gracie had found her forever home. Julia adopted Gracie, making her a permanent member of her family.
