Jordy was surrendered to the care of a mobile vet after a brave member of the household he was living in reached out to seek treatment for the little pup. She didn't know what was wrong, but it was clear that Jordy was very sick and in pain. The vet called the RSPCA for help.
We'll never know the exact details of what happened to Jordy, or why, but it was clear that somebody in his house had tried to hurt him.
Jordy’s fur was so thick and matted, it was hard to see the cause of the issue immediately. On examination, RSPCA vets discovered there was a rubber band wrapped tightly around his ear, cutting deeply into the skin and causing a potentially deadly infection.
To save his life, the infected part of his ear needed to be surgically removed.
Once he was stable and the infection under control, his filthy, overgrown coat was removed. Jordy’s body looked so little and frail. It was clear that, as well as the unimaginable act of damaging Jordy's ear, he had also not been fed properly.
Jordy was initially very anxious. He needed medication for his anxiety and to keep infection at bay. He needed a special diet to help him put on weight.
But we could also see what a cutie he is! With lovely big brown eyes and a soul that was still loving and hopeful, despite what he had been through.
Thanks to the support of people like you, today Jordy is living out any dog’s best life with his forever family.
He’s no longer the anxious little boy he was. He has his own warm and comfy bed, but more often he sneaks in to sleep with his human siblings!
And he has furry friends as well as human ones! It’s great fun playing with the ball together at the dog park, then coming home to a nice comfortable house for naps, pats and treats.
It’s the happy ending Jordy deserves.
But right now, there are other animals like him who are suffering terribly behind closed doors.
